When we travel, it is always exciting to pass state lines and see the sign indicating “you are now entering ‘our fabulous state.’” It makes it seem as if we are at least getting somewhere on our long trip. Sometimes there are signs at the visitor centers and we pose for a photo to document that we were there. 

I am reminded of other “entering” signs:
You are now entering the mission field.
You are now entering the twilight zone.
You are now entering the safety zone.
You are now entering the island of misfit toys.
You are now entering a designated swimming area.
You are now entering a construction speed zone.

Probably one of the best ones to hit the heart is, “You are now entering a stress free zone.” Wouldn’t we all want to plaster that sign up as a warning on our doors during the holiday hustle and bustle? It would be like shouting an alarm saying, “all visitors must enter with an attitude of peace and quiet.” It might as well say, “You are now entering the human heart, so be careful what you say and do.”

God’s word says, “Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’” Luke 10:5. Wouldn’t it be great if we entered every family and friend’s home declaring “Peace be to this house!” out loud? I wonder what the reaction might be.

In anticipation of Jesus’ birth, there was a message from the prophet, “and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” Isaiah 9:6. I love the thought of the Prince of Peace entering every home, don’t you?
