We are the adventurers! That is what we exclaim to each other and because of it, we have many fond memories. In 1995, we traveled to a state park, which is often our destination. We had our three young sons with us, ages 3, 4, and 7. Seeing a paved walking trail, we thought surely it would be short, being meant for walking. We parked our car and headed off on our adventure. After walking for a very long time, we began to wonder about the length of the trail. Surely the end would be around the corner at any minute. We pushed on and still no end.

Should we go back? We knew how far going back would be, but what if the end was around the bend? Decisions, decisions! We decided to push forward, carrying the youngest child, the oldest child growing weary, and the middle child out ahead. Yep! That’s right! This was the day we learned our 4 year old child could walk 4 miles and not blink twice! He was happy as could be strolling along anxious to see what came next. He eventually was dubbed “marathon man” because he was always out in front and coming in first.

The moral of this story is: “If you don't keep walking you will never get where you're going.” We may not know what is around the bend in our life walk. We may not now know where the end is in our faith walk. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” 2 Corinthians 5:7. We trust God to be walking there beside us. Just keep going and go at it without complaining, finding joy along the way. Joy to the world, the Lord is come! And wonders, wonders, of His love.
