Reading through the Gospels 5

Luke 1:39-45

Luke 1:39-45 MARY VISITS ELIZABETH

1:39 - 42 Mary went with haste. She hurried to walk 70 to 100 miles. It is 100 miles from Cape Girardeau to St. Louis which gives me perspective in what a great distance Mary had to walk to see Elizabeth. Both women had something in common.  Both were pregnant due to God's miracle, both pregnancies were announced by Gabriel, and both were going to be mothers of very important men. The two women were like-minded and Mary went to great lengths to be with a like-minded friend. What great lengths do I go to be with like-minded friends? Age did not matter, one being old and one being young. The women needed each other. Nothing is impossible with God.

1: 41-45 When Mary visited Elizabeth, John, in Elizabeth's belly, recognized Jesus, in Mary's belly, and leaped for joy.  Then Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and knew the good news. The Holy Spirit told Elizabeth that Mary's child was the Messiah.  When the two women fellowshipped together, the Spirit was felt. The Spirit reveals himself to me when I fellowship with other Christians. The Holy Spirit can also fill me up and speak to me in the same way as He did Elizabeth.  Sometimes I have a gut feeling inside that feels different than at other times and I can tell it is the Holy Spirit talking to me.  However, this must always be tested against God's Word.  God will never tell me something against His Word.

December 20, 2014 I have wanted to make this for over a week now and I'm excited to have done this one. As always, I had some new revelations as I just sat and contemplated on the Word.
