JESUS IS EQUAL WITH GOD
John 5:18
The Jews have no idea how off-base they are about Jesus and he is going to tell them in the next verse, "Truly Truly." In other words, "LET ME BE CLEAR!" Not only is He the son of God, but Jesus also has been given authority over life. Jesus leaves zero doubt of who He is. Jesus did not say God is 'my Father,' or 'your Father,' or "our Father." He called God "his own Father."
The Jews claimed their linage and their heritage as their judgment and righteous. They were better than others and good enough because of their following of their heritage. Self-righteous people out-holy each other. Don't pretend your life is put together. Christians are just the opposite: a mess.
