Filter Challenge

Lesson 14 - Guassian Blur

The guassian blur filter is the most used filter and, therefore, I wanted to share a unique technique not utilized in any other tutorial here at My Corner Online.  This lesson teaches the Orton Effect.  Although the technique only takes minutes to do, this video is much longer as it shares information to help you understand how it works, about the technique, and about your camera settings should you choose to do this technique half from your camera, rather than totally in Photoshop Elements or Photoshop.  I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

Does this filter depend on the foreground/background colors: No.

This video is a quick video sharing the camera settings I used, just in case you want to try this through camera settings, rather than a complete program edit.

This video is about 26 minutes long, although the actual technique takes merely a minute to finish once you get the easy steps down. Most of the video is explaining more about what an Orton Effect is, as well as achieving part of it through the camera. I always feel if I better understand why something is working, I can better remember how to do the effect.
