130. Testing Papers

I created a layout with clown costumes of many bright colors and I pulled in about 15 papers and tried re-coloring them and none of them look right!

Has anyone else ever worked so hard to find just the right paper from your stash? What is the most papers (approximately) that you have tested in a layout until you found just the right one (like goldilocks!--it's juussst right).

Here are your comments!

Not sure how many, but sometimes it is quite a few. Some times I think my taste is different. Jules

I think the most I've ever tried would be 10. I usually need to walk away at that point and come back much later with a clear mind. Belle33

I don't think I've ever tried more than 10 on one layout. But usually it only takes me no more than 3 or 4 tries. Sometimes I do have to come back to it later. JustaMommie

I'd say no more than 5. Many times I work off the paper itself and find photos to fit that. Tammyshere

I don't usually test many papers---maybe four or five. I have been known to finish a layout and then don't like the background and go in search of another paper for the background. NancyP

Sometimes I get it right first time but on average I would say about 5/6 papers are imported and played with until it looks right. If I get really stuck I put the project on the back burner for a while and then come back to it and usually manage to sort it a1bjm

I spend so much time trying to find just the perfect paper and I usually fiddle around with 5 to 6 papers which are discarded before I finally settle on one or just totally eliminate the paper and use a gradient or just color the background to compliment my layout. ccynden

Oh my goodness.... I'm totally ratting myself out here, but there was a time when I first started, when I pulled ALL the papers from a kit into my layout, and then randomly made one visible at a time, looking for the best one. I think that process took a couple hours, mainly cause I was going back and forth with several of them. And that was before I knew I could change colors! Oh my! I'm not quite so bad now. Lol Dawn

oh I would say 4/5 and still may recolor. I change my mind a lot Dawn Miner

A couple of times I did a whole layout, then just could not settle myself with the papers I had used. So I landed up changing all the papers I had used. It used to take me a lot longer to decide of papers, but I'm getting better at it I think Maggie
