(Created February 20, 2015; This all came together with very special meaning for me today. Last week, on Wednesday, February 11, a classmate of my 24 year old son passed away. When the obituary was posted, my heart immediately began to ache. I did not know Alex well, but I did know his mother. I remember her and working together with elementary school classroom parties and other school events. We were "band moms" and "sports moms" together. She is such a wonderful lady. However, this just hit way too close to home for me. This young man who played in marching band with my sons, who I cheered alongside with his parents, who played sports with my boys, is gone. Gone. This could happen to me. My boys could be gone. Even at age 24 (or 27 or 23 as they are now). I wanted to hug each one of them, but alas they are too far away. I wanted to tell them they are loved. I wanted to find ways to spend more time with them. I wanted them to love me back. I wanted them to "just know." I wanted to send virtual hugs to all the young men that have been my "4th sons," as I called them, throughout the years.)
