Giving God Credit for the Holiday Good I do

12.1.13 Arrow Prayer. This Christmas, when thoughts turn to doing good for others and giving gifts, help me to always give credit to You. It is Your power, Holy Spirit, that works through me. Thank You for first loving me so that I can go forth and love others.

This graphic I was inspired to make because I wanted something to print to put next to my bathroom mirror this Christmas season to remind me that all the good I do, I do because of the divine power of the Holy Spirit working through me.

I think we focus more on doing good for others and giving gifts this time of year than any other time of year. So it is good to be reminded to give God the credit, and the glory, for all that I do!

2Pe 1:3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, (ESV)

I love the idea of doing good and then turning around and thanking God for flowing through me, for letting His light shine through me, to love other people.

For instance, on Thanksgiving, we took the dogs to the nursing home and it made me feel so good to see the dogs making the old people smile! It just warmed my insides! Yes, they gave back to me through their smiles!

Praise God for giving my Ria and Tizzy and giving me the time and inspiration to visit complete strangers to give them a bit of brightness in their lonely holiday day. He is good! All the time! And all the time, He is good! Thank you God, for your goodness and allowing it to flow through me. You, Holy Spirit, are awesome!

Everything works together for the good of others, so when I do good for others, it is God working through me to make His plan in other's lives come together. I love the idea of God using me to help others.

Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

I am born of the flesh, so my flesh wants to take credit for everything I do. But then I am also born of the Spirit, and I need to realize that it is the Spirit working through me that actually does all the good.

1Pe 1:22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,
1Pe 1:23 since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;

God has purified my soul, my flesh, my human nature, has been purified by God and this is what allows me to move away from self-centeredness and move toward unselfish love for others.
