The Chrismon - Epiphany Star

OUR LIFE IN CHRIST story: Through Holy Baptism, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we are brought to faith in Jesus our Lord and Savior, who redeemed us, by His death on the cross, through His Word, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion, and in regular worship we are strengthened until that great day when we shall rise to eternal life with the King of Kings.

Our next Chrismon is the epiphany star. The wise men followed this star to find Jesus.

The Bible doesn't say how many wise men there really were, but it does say there were three gifts-gold, frankincense, and myrrh. So our nativity shows three wise men to hold three gifts. And the wise men didn't really visit Jesus at the stable. They visited Jesus when he was a small child, probably at his home. But sometimes the wise men stand by the stable because it is easier than having another scene, maybe one called the epiphany scene.

"After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh." Matthew 20:9-11
