Geranium 'Gerwat' Rozanne | Cranesbill, Rozanne Cranesbill, Rozanne Geranium, Hardy Geranium
Geraniaceae (Geranium Family) Pronounced Ger-Ay-nee-ay-see-eye
Pronounced Jer-Ay-nee-um
The name "Geranium" is from the Greek word "geranos" which means crane, which is where the common name comes from.
This plant does not look anything like the traditional geranium I buy every year that is an annual for my pots. Cranesbill are "true geraniums" and the traditional common annual geraniums have a scientific name of "Pelargonium" (pel-ar-GO-ni-um) of the same family.
This is a hybrid cultivar.
The plants have violet-blue saucer-shaped flowers.
The leaves are mounding and sprawling. Although it seems to grow vigorously into other areas nearby, it is considered manageable and not invading of other plants. I think I am going to like this plant because of its easy in growing, showiness, and height a height of about 20 inches. To maintain it, just shear off the plant where you do not want it to be.
As with most flowers, deadheading encourages new blooms. This plant blooms all Summer long.
