Veteran's Day used to be called Armistice Day. It was the day that commemorated the signing of the Armistice on November 11, 1918. Who could forget that on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11 o'clock in the morning, the armistice to end the "war to end all wars," sometimes called "the great war" was sounded? We now know this war as World War I. We know that it was not the war to end all wars.
Because of WWII and the Korean War, in 1954 Armistice Day became Veterans' Day, but it was not the end of wars.
