2023 - I shall get better in marking the dates of the first bloom next year!

(Pronounced SAL-vee-uh) (Latin name for sage)

(Prounounced nem-or-OH-suh) (Meaning woodland)

The cultivar is Balyriclu and I have no idea what that means.

The family is Lamiaceae, the mint family. (Prounounced lay-mee-AY-see-eye).

This Meadow Sage starts out as a dark burgundy bud and turns into a rich Indigo-blue flower. Indigo can be on a scale from more blue or more violet, so the descriptions vary.  It is a great for cut flowers to accent an arrangement or to dry.

I love that the height stays low at only 1 to 2 feet. It attracts bees and butterflies.

I cut mine back after it blooms in the Spring and then it blooms again in late summer around the end of July or the beginning of August. It really just needs a "haircut," and is very low maintenance which I love. My plan is to spread it around in more parts of the garden beds by division.

Every Spring it blooms the same time as the coreopsis which is next to it, as well as the Evening Primrose, and it makes for a dramatic scene in the garden.

The below photos were taken in 2023 while filming the above video.

The below photo was taken June 5, 2023, including the Lyrical Blue Salvia in the front, corepsis, and evening primrose.

The below photos were taken June 20, 2023.

I scanned in the tag for this Lyrical Blues Salvia in November of 2018, and I found it in the June 2018 garden snippet video, so I believe it was planted in the Spring of 2018.
