I have been familiar with the Grackle for a long time. When I first spotted it with the iridescent blue around the head and the tad of purple on the wing, I was in love with its beauty. Then I learned that it was a mean bird! I mean really! Look at those yellow pokey eyes! It comes in huge masses just like the European Starling and the Crow. I put them all in the same category of "mean birds" that can have a fun life, but not in my yard! I like the friendly birds to visit me, although I do not mind seeing the Grackle and its iridescent blue from time to time.
