Robin

I always love seeing "my first Spring Robin" and have attempted to document each year when I see my first Robin.

I had started a bird journal and this page was from the journal. I wanted to document when I saw "my first Spring Robin" and here is the list:

#6 of 11 birds in the snowy garden today is the good 'ol Robin. I like to talk to the Robins and always address them as Mr. Robin. In the Spring they tend to stay near me as I weed for their chance at a worm. They follow me around and wait nearby. They are my friends. I saw my first Spring Robin this year on January 27, which put a shade on Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog (pun intended)! We may have had 4 weeks of Winter since Phil told us so, but I bet Mr. Robin is going to take the lead on this bet in that the last 2 weeks will make the turn for the better. I am certainly Team Spring! I am watching a Robin now at the window and it is huge! Surely all that puffing up to stay warm is not just air? There has to be a little egg growing going on there too. The Robin prefers the easy life by graciously taking what is left on the ground by the other birds. It does attempt to get on the suet feeder at times, but struggles to bend upside down to get at the food. It always sits up proudly on top of the feeder, unable like some birds to do the calisthenics side-grip.

2024

March 18, 2024 - I was recording an upcoming garden journal video when I was visited by Mr.
Robin. I have always called them Mr. Robin when they come near to me in the
garden.

This one kept walking closer and closer to me!

The Robins in my yard get close rto me than any other bird. If I didn't know better,
I think they follow me to hang out.

Maybe they know I use a trowel sometimes and want to jump in after me when I
turn my back.

There are two Robins in this photo. Can you spy them both?
