The tutorial shows how to use these files that have black edges and white centers. In the digital scrapbooking world, these frames are sometimes called Distressed Edges, sometimes Frame Overlays, and even sometimes Frame Masks. This technique is to utilize a distressed edge frame in your layout. Some designers call them overlays and some call them masks.
