Doctors warn we are still in the lingering days of the cold and flu season. But be on a special alert! We are still in the aftermath of one of the most contagious, highly influential epidemics in the history of humanity.
A great many persons have already been exposed to this historic virus, and it is possible that people everywhere could become contaminated. It has the potential of posing a serious threat to the stable conditions of the status quo we have known, and grown comfortable to, in our community.
I'm talking about the life-changing virus known as the "Advent Virus." It lingers in these days that follow Christmas. Be on the alert for the symptoms of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, ironically, the same conditions given to the candles on our Advent wreath.
Here are the signs to watch out for:
-a tendency to think and act with others in mind.
-an unmistakable ability to enjoy the present moment.
-a loss of interest in judging and condemning other people.
-a loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.
-frequent, inexplicable episodes of appreciation.
-a peculiar loss of self-centeredness.
-a tendency to let go of control and allow things to happen.
-an increasing susceptibility to friendliness in others, and an uncontrollable urge to share it with others.
-a loss of interest in conflict
-a loss of the ability to worry (This is a very serious symptom)
-frequent attacks of smiling.
-An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others as well as the uncontrollable urge to extend it.
Be on the alert! The Advent virus is highly contagious. It may actually replicate itself and be with us for many more months, possibly even all year long.
Here's how to protect yourself:
-stay away from people who believe in God.
-focus on self-serving priorities.
-find excuses to avoid worship and praise of God.
-keep your mind closed to spiritual messages that boast of promoting forgiveness and reconciliation.
For many people in our community, it is too late. It's changed their lives forever, even for eternity.
