In some versions of PSE, there was an option to click to bypass the start up screen and go directly to either the editor or the organizer.  With the addition of their online community of hosting and tutorials, Adobe didn't want anyone bypassing the start up screen because they wanted you to constantly be reminded of their new service.  Did you know you can make your own way of bypassing the welcome screen?

I never understand why they do away with a good thing, except that maybe they purposefully are trying to get you to read about the new area online and sign up for it.
