Reading through the Gospels 23

John 1:14-16

John 1:14-16  Jesus, who is the Word, became flesh by being born a baby and walking among people here on earth. Jesus is not part man and part God.  Jesus is fully human and fully God.  Jesus is 100% and 100%! Colossians 2:9, "For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily."  John the apostle,  as a personal witness, testifies that he has seen all His glory.  Then John the apostle speaks about John the Baptist's comment that Jesus who comes after him actually was before him because Jesus was there from before creation.  It is a twist of words that catches one's attention and makes them think.  Jesus was never "plan B." Jesus was always "plan A." As the "only" son of the Father, Jesus is one of a kind!

 

I love the words "grace upon grace" because it does describe Jesus's "fullness" in that He's got it fully covered. Grace is repeated and emphasized. Grace is overflowing. Grace is not just 100%, but 100% and 100% again.  Jesus covers me 100% and then covers me 100% again. How full is that?! That is completely full and then overflowing!  1 Corinthians 12:9, "My grace is sufficient for you."  I want to be filled with the fullness of God.  Ephesians 3:19, "and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
