In many of the tutorials here at My Corner Online, you will find that I use textures.  They are great for both making papers and for blending with photos.

I have a huge collection of textures from Shadowhouse as well as some others, but I particularly like Shadowhouse. I have used a few of those on layouts. I will have to look at some of the others resources to see if they offer anything different. JanetMM
