The Fun Extras - Set Two

40.Favorite Photos

Can you believe this is the 40th lesson already?  That's two sets of icons!  Hasn't it gone by fast?

Since this is "The Fun Extras," and we've gotten into a little bit of routine and maybe ho-hum, I wanted to do something a little bit different, so be surprised!

What Can You Learn From Your Favorites?

Oh wow!! I'm tearing up!!!! NOW I feel like I really know you and you're not just a voice on a video!!! THANK YOU so much for that wonderful heartwarming video!!!! It made me laugh and cry at the same time!!!
Oh, yeah, we have an assignment to do, don't we!! OK, off to look at layouts.

Nancy's right - this is very heartwarming! You're such a sweetie! I'm with you on having layouts involving our family as my favs! And then there are those layouts that I'm amazed that I could do them in an artistic sense or when a photo turned out like I wanted it to - which is pretty rare compared to the number of photos I take. Here are some of my favorites:
Love this one of our Grandsons and Great Granddaughter:

I think Nancy took my words out of my mouth! Such a great video and wonderful LO's for various reasons. I might have to borrow that title about reaching out and giving a big kiss. Love that! I'll have to really look back to find some favorites that also give some meaning, although I know have favorites that highlight specific lessons that I happened to love and use over and over. I'll be back!

Loved the video and seeing your layouts Hummie, it's made me determined to get some of mine printed, I keep putting it off as it's so expensive Will have a little think about which are my favourites and get back to you

I loved the video Hummie.
I think my most favourite layouts are those of my family. My most favourite I thin is a paper scrapping page of my dad who sadly passed over when I was 8. It is a very simple black and red page with a great big red cutout rose on it and a little book that I wrote things in. The rose symbols the roses in the garden which he was so proud of and the only thing that I had of his is a "rose Society" badge which he always wore on his best jacket. This I have attached to the page also. Sadly I cannot show you the layout as I am without printer, scanner etc,etc at the moment.

One of my very favorite layouts is of my great-granddaughter, Kaysie, and her experiment with powder. When we were told the entire story behind this incident, the whole family was hysterical with laughter. Sometimes just saying her name, Kaysie, conjures up what she did that day. It was just a precious layout and I will always treasure it.

Awww Hummie, what a great video! And your hubby is hillarious! Actually, the two of you together are a great team!

Hmmm.... my favorite layouts.... *looking through my gallery*

I like making layouts for myself, but I get a lot of joy in making for others as gifts. My friends mean a lot to me, and I can't always afford to do things for them, but I have found that scrapping pages for them is something inexpensive that I can do, that I know will mean a lot to them.

Here are a couple of my favorites...
This one is a favorite, because I learned a lot about color isolation here, and it was so effective on this layout. It's such a sweet photo, and this was the perfect way to scrap it.

I already got credit for this, but I'd like to add that by doing the LO's for my heritage album I am able to write down my family's history for my children. When one of my sons asked me to make a copy of the album for him, I was overwhelmed with emotion. When I make pages about my parents, I feel closer to them and really appreciate that feeling since they are both gone. And, of course, when I do LO's of the grandkids, I'm filled with joy and laugh at their cute little faces. I'm just so happy to have found this wonderful hobby!

Well, as you all know I am a sucker for my grandkids and great grandkids and here is one of my favorites of all my great-grandchildren. And like I said before----I love fantasy layouts!

I've had a good look through my layouts and picked this one.

Janen

I know it is very simple but I think that is more my style. The main reason though is it's a layout of my grandson painting my picture. I remember when he did it and still have the painting and that is why I scrap, to record those precious memories

I have so many layouts and nothing immediately pops to mind as to which is my favorite, but I have to admit that I really love this one because it has most of my favortie peeps in it.

Hummie, thank you for sharing some of your memories with us - reminds us why we scrap, and of course, it is not whether it's a fancy page or would win design prizes that matters ... it's whether it preserves and triggers the memories, emotions etc that we want to capture. I don't have access to may of my pages here, but I'm attaching my most recent creation as I think my favorutie subject matter i usually oiur cats or dogs. I never seem to tire of scrapping them - and htere's always something new to say about them!

I didn't need to go through my layouts to know I love scrapping my grandchildren. They are such an important part of my life these days. I love the following of one of my daughters and her family because it is such an idyllic view of a family on a beautiful summer's day.

OK I'm back! This is one of my faves because I had such fun blending and playing with masks, but also because I love the photo of the girls being so close!

Here is mine! I love this one because my grandson made the pictures for me. He also took the picture of me ! I took the picture of him, Thought it just works well together.

This is one of my favorite LO's. I have a very special son that has Prader-Willie Syndrome. He is my gift from God to help me in this life. Although he has a great deal of struggles to deal with he truly inspires me. These pictures were taken this past summer while we were at our favorite family camp. This LO captured my son so well. I loved learning techniques that helped create a page that captured him so well.
I liked reading and looking at everyone's LO for this assignment. Great idea.

question: I have done lesson 32 in the fun extra. I am not sure how to get credit. I spent time looking in many links and downloaded and commented on some of the resources there but I don't understand what else I need to do to get credit. Help?

These are my favorites right now. This is the first time that we've ever had professional pictures done of the kids "just because". It's an age and time captured in time forever. We had so much fun getting them done and the memories will be there forever!

I have so many favourite lo's depending upon my mood at the time lol Looking back through my lo's it's very easy to see how they have improved since I joined Hummies World but I'm not sure I have developed a particular signature style. I dont think anybody would be able to say 'that's one of Barbara's pages' if my name was'nt on it. I do know I like white space and I only like to use a few elements but somehow it doesn't always turn out that way. This lo is probably my most favourite at the moment, it's minimal, it's of my hubbie and me and the title is a part of a little jokey thing between us - I love you - because? - just because? - because of you.

Thanks on what the focus of your layouts. My favorite layout is a layout from lesson 2. Photo in letters. Yes it is of my grands. Oh don't go getting emotional on us Ms Hummie. I am unable to share my layout at this time becasue I don't know how to upload them. The ones posted I am using to help me with my journaling. Great video.

Hummie, thank you for that wonderful video. It was lovely to take a peek at your favorites.

Well! This fun extra had me occupied for several days! In fact, when i started it, i KNEW it was gonna take forever, so i skipped it for a bit. But, i also have problems moving on when i do things out of sequence so i'm back so i can move on with my scrapping!

This turned up lots of "favorites for me", but i will share the ones that had the largest impact as i was reviewing. I believe most of the journaling is readable, but the initial title will direct you to the gallery where it lives, where i've typed out the journaling in the LO description.

By this last paragraph you can probably tell that the journaling is the thing for me, mostly. I really believe that every picture tells a story, and i love getting the stories down, specially of my family. They are not really history, although some of them do give histories, but just snapshots in time. I love goiing back and reading...enough chatter, on with the show.

The Hawk: I chose this one not because of journaling or family or story, but just because i loved the photo of the hawk and finally found a kit that made it shine.

I love scrapping family, specifically my husband and kids. I am very emotionally attached to almost all of my LO's. Here are a couple that mean a lot to me. For me, it isn't the elements on the page, as much as it is the person and the memory.

This is just one of my very favorites...It's very simple, few colors, and the photos are very clear and crisp. And most of all it's my son smiling, my heart still skips a beat whenever I see these photos and his smile, even today. I know what a good, kind boy he is inside and my heart just swells with love for him every time I see him, but especially when i see that smile!

That was really difficult... so many great memories to choose from. In the end I narrowed it down to the day my Grandson was born.......

First of all, thank you SO much, Hummie for that *wonderful* heart felt video. Thanks for the tears and the laughter it brought. My favorite layouts are of my family - my husband and my boys and their families. But...then again I also love my nature layouts, too. It's hard to pick a favorite.
A favorite nature one ~

Loved the video!! Thanks for sharing your favorites. I don't have enough LO's yet to really pick a favorite. This makes me think about my scrapping goals now. I need to do more of my children & scan some old photo's of family members ;)
However, I do have this one. I Love it because it features my grandson. Other then the birth of my own kids, this is by far one of my most happy days, becoming a grandmother

My favorite layout is usually the one I just finished! I often sit back and clap for myself when I am done. The process and finished piece continues to amaze me.

My favorite photos/layouts are from the photo album my mom had of photos of she and my dad long before I was born. Even before she met him. I was a late in life baby (for the times) and as I scrapped the photos, it was wonderful to get to know them as real people, not just how I knew them as my parents. The layouts have long since been printed into a book, and I have no idea where I put the jpegs, since I have a newer laptop now and left much on the old desktop.

My very favorite layout of those I made in that series, was the one where I journaled "the stories she could have told if I had just wanted to listen". My mom had a very interesting life, particularly before she married my Dad She actually travelled the country putting on local plays for the Wayne P. Sewell Company. She was a contemporary of Minnie Pearl, who got her start with that company. She met my Dad on one of her trips. She kept an amazing series of albums, for that I will be forever grateful. It is what started me down the digiscrapping path.
