The Fun Extras - Set Nine

177. Digiscrap Map

We had a fun period of time with the Digiscrap Map show and I have gathered all of the posts and videos here on this page for you to enjoy. The show had it's own website at digiscrapmap.com and streamed live at ustream. We interviewed designers and site owners, now many of which are closed. These are good memories and a little bit of digital history.

The site is slowly coming together! I can feel the excitement! In this video, I invite everyone to participate in the building of the website by suggesting names of towns for the background. I've already added two suggestions. Thanks to SuziBea for suggesting "Extraction Junction" and Dawn for suggesting "Clonville." What about Jagtown as in Jaggies? Go ahead, leave a comment below with your suggestions and I will add them to the background! Oh, the fun we shall have!

Digiscrap Map Show #1 (Bunny Cates)

On July 2, 2010, we had our first show and Bunny Cates really did her part to kick us off right!

Her team put together a ton of freebies to give away. I found Bunny great to work with. She was so organized and that really helped me a lot to make my way easier. I believe there are approximately 71 people in attendance (unique viewers per the stats). The chatroom was hopping and I've had nothing but positive feedback! We sincerely thank everyone who participated in the chatroom who helped to make this first show a fun event.

We have two more shows under works for the next two Saturdays. The show times will move around so as to try to fit the schedules of everyone around the world. Saturday afternoons are much better for those on the same side of the world as the United Kingdom and Australia. It may be more difficult being in the middle of the day for those in the United States, but hopefully everyone will try to set that time aside to join us to ask questions.

I am also working on getting the podcast started for this show, as well as how-to tutorials and details for this site. One step at a time!

We started out our first show just perfect, complete with music by Dawn, with one exception. I forgot to hit the "record" button! Sigh. We did introduce Bunny at the beginnning of the show and did ask her many questions, but it did not get recorded.

Bunny has been married 9 years and has two children. We did go back at the end of the show and redid the first part of the show. I appreciated Bunny taking the extra time to do so because of my goof-up. Hopefully things will get smoother as I practice more.

Digiscrap Map Show #2 (Lisa Jo)

I had a lot of fun meeting Lisa Jo, owner of Designs In Digital and Just Digi Layout.

In the interview, we discuss the great contribution to the digital scrapbooking community her free service at Just Digi Layout. /a>

There are several sites which have product galleries (I show in the show how to search them) similar to Just Digi Layouts that I want to mention in this post so that you may utilize them all to find just what you need for your layouts. We want to thank Lisa and the others for what they do to bring our community together.

Just Digi Layout - (Thanks Lisa!)
Digishoptalk Product Gallery (Who doesn't know about the hub?)
Promos4DigiScrappers (this one has an awesome Yahoo Group since September 1, 2004!)
Digiscrap Addicts Product Gallery (newer, but very active!)
Digital Scrapbook Previews (by Amy Teets since early 2006 - and I think people forget its there!)

Watch the show with Lisa Jo and get to know her and her site below.

Digiscrap Map Show #3 (Vicky Laursen)

It was fun meeting Vicky Laursen and seeing what a generous heart her and her husband have with all the time and effort put forth with regard to their site "DigiscrapDepot." Her husband is does all the site web building and contributes his gifts to this community even though he is not interested in digital scrapbooking at all! Now that's a good husband!

Much of the show we reviewed the new design that will be coming out in the next few weeks at DigiscrapDepot.

Digiscrap Map Show #4 (Bella Gypsy)

I had a great time meeting Lena Bradenburg and her sister, Tabatha Reed! I've always had the impression that Lena had a bubbly personality and found that she was a bit quieter than I had imagined, but this was the first time she had ever been on a webcam anywhere. Nonetheless, I found her to be a fun person and a great mom, with very professional designs. Tabatha was super shy with the camera, but after Lena's encouragement, did visit with us for a short while and I really appreciated her fighting through her shyness to join us. I just wanted to hug her!

You can find their designs at Elemental Scraps, Gotta Pixel, A Cherry On Top, and ScrapMatters.

Digiscrap Map Show #5 (Atomic Cupcake)

Here's the video of our meeting with BriAnna of Atomic Cupcake!

There is a free action available for two weeks from the date of the show, so be sure to watch soon and grab the awesome download! It is available in both PSE and Photoshop. BriAnna was unable to find the image which we discussed in the show. Shucks!

I really enjoyed meeting BriAnna. She's as awesome as I've always thought her to be!

Digiscrap Map Show #6 (Connie Prince)

I really enjoyed talking with Connie Prince!

Her connection had static with it, so the sound is not the best, but I do hope you enjoy the show as much as we did making it. I have to smile at how her husband supported her by creating a professional backdrop. He needs to come over to my house!

Connie and I have planned another fun event together in the near future. Stay tuned for details! It should be fun!

Digiscrap Map with Lisa Hanks of Plain Digital Wrapper

What did we learn about Plain Digital Wrapper during this interview? We learned that they are a crazy fun bunch of scrappers! Tomorrow is International Talk Like a Pirate Day and so be sure to catch the sales at PDW. I tried to talk like a pirate in the video, but I'm not too good at it! After the recording, we continued to have fun and Lisa even let her children out of their rooms and we got an even better glimps of what a great mom she is. How many children does she have? Just watch the video!

Digiscrap Map (PSE9 Give-A-Way) (Layout Suggestions)

Yeah to Diane for winning PSE9! Thanks to all who sent layouts for us to talk about how to improve them.

Digiscrap Map Live Show #9

We had a great time chatting with Karen of Snickerdoodle Designs.

We had a lot of great topics brought up in discussions, but here is two I noted while we were taping the show. Karen shares how she utilizes puppet warp in cs5 in her designing. In addition, she shares that she was interviewed for a free online magazine at https://www.papersandpixels.com/.

This is just a few of the things mentioned, so go ahead, watch and enjoy! I especially enjoyed hearing her chat about climbing on a ladder to get photos of the bird and nest photo she shares and how she utilized those photos in a kit.

Digiscrap Map on Photography

Here is the show that goes with Digiscrap Map #11.

Dawn and I recorded on my patio. We had hoped to do it in the garden, but could not get a strong enough internet connection out that far, so we had to improvise and do a "plan B." It was a lot of fun and Dawn did get to see how much work is behind the scenes for one of these shows.

The old camcorder we used was very slow and so the video is choppy. I edited it a lot to take out times when the camcorder went into demo/pause mode!

Here are some photos that we took during the show.

Digiscrap Map - Tag Team Scrapping

This is the layout which Dawn and I tag teamed each other while recording the Digiscrap Map show together while she was here visiting me.  The kit uses is Jeri Ingalls Tranquil Valley.

Click here for the show. Yes, we had a lot of techy issues and yes, we were silly and not so professional with this show, but it's good to have fun!

Here are the parody lyrics we wrote, just in case you want to sing along! The song begins at about 7 minutes in on the above video.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Scrapping, Sharing, Elements accentuated
We're gonna do it!

Give us any chance, we'll take it.
Give us any rule, we'll break it.
We're gonna make our layouts come through.
Doin' it our way.

Nothin's gonna turn us back now,
Straight ahead and on the track now.
We're gonna make our layouts come through,
Doin' it our way.

There is nothing we won't try,
Never heard the word impossible.
This time there's .
We're gonna do it.

On your mark, get set, and go now,
Got a photo and we just roll now,
We're gonna make our layouts come through.
And we'll do it our way, yes our way.
Make all our layouts come through,
And do it our way, yes our way,
Make all our layouts come through
For me and you.
