Union Covered Bridge State Historic Site

There are four covered bridges left in Missouri and this is the 4th one that I have visited. All four are Missouri State Historic Sites. The Bollinger Mill State Historic Site, Burfordville, Missouri is near me where I live in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, so I have visited it a lot. The Sandy Creek Covered bridge is a day trip for us. I visited the Locust Creek Covered bridge in 2023 with a friend, so I have been to all four!

I first learned about the covered bridges as a high schooler when my Dad bought artwork of all four and hung them in the finished basement walls. Ever since then I have wanted to visit them all just because he liked them a lot.

The State of Missouri is good at teaching about the different types of trusses on the covered bridges. This one has a double burr arch truss. I read all about it in the above video. I love the arches! They are photogenic.

I love the ripple in the water on this one!

Momma's girlfriends braving the water.

I love any place I can play in the water!

I love the reflection!

The lovely field across from the parking lot.
