Caledonia and Old Village Mercantile
Caledonia Missouri is in Washington County, Missouri, but not far from the Iron County boundary line, so I tend to associate it with my Iron County ancestors, as there are many distant relatives that lived in Caledonia. My great-grandfather, James Wright, lived there when he was married in 1915. The above photo is a panorama of the classic Arcadia Valley hills just north of Caledonia.
The general feeling about this old-tyme town on social media is one of a well-liked place to visit, although there is not much there. When we took some friends there to visit the Old Village Mercantile as we drove through town in 2018 to go to Johnson Shut-ins, they told us it was their favorite part of the trip.
