Tunnel Hill State Trail

Tunnel Hill State Trail - a trip on our Lectric bikes (May 23, 2021)

We like to take our bikes over to Tunnel Hill State Trail in Illinois. There are so many places you can get on the trail and so many directions you can explore. In the above video we took the classic trip from Vienna through the tunnel and back. We had a great trip from Vienna, Illinois, to Tunnel Hill on our Lectric bikes along the Tunnel Hill State Trail. I think I saw "Hiking with Shawn," but was going 15 miles an hour and was too far past to stop when it registered. That tunnel gets scary dark in the middle of it! But what an adventure! We went about 10 miles our and 10 miles back.

Tunnel Hill State Park Illinois - South Trail (May 28, 2022)

On the above bike ride, we went to Vienna and went south. We did not quiet make it all of the way to the end because we feared our bike's batteries would be too close to drained, so we turned around a at Belknep which was a round trip of 15.6 miles. We know we can go 20 miles on the batteries, but that was not quite enough to go the whole way, so we decided to turn around.

Tunnel Hill State Park with Scouts, May 17, 2008

The first time I rode the trail was with Troop 11 Boy Scouts and we took the north trail out of Vienna. Someone stayed back and met us at the stop 10 miles out so that we did not have to go back. I remember how hard it seemed for me on a regular bike, but I did hang in the back with the slower riders as the adult bringing up the rear, so often I had to get my momentum and speed built up again. It was great fun though and I really enjoyed creating and watching the above video as it made me laugh and smile.
