Castlewood State Park

Castlewood State Park is located at 1401 Kiefer Creek Rd, Ballwin, St. Louis County, Missouri. I see this park posted a lot on social media, so I had to go visit it. It is an interesting park and we enjoyed our hike, but I think it is over publicized for what it is because it is near a large City. It is along the Meramec River which to me is a dirty river I have no desire to see anymore than the zillions of times I have seen it over my lifetime. There are danger signs posted about swimming here and folks disregard them. There is an overlook which seems rather an awesome view, but we were not able to make it up that far. We did find the old ruins buried in the woods interesting to adventure and explore. It seems that back in its "hey day" around 1915 to 1940, there was a resort here and folks flocked to the area to cool off in the river. These ruins may have been the foundations to former dance halls or general stores. I understand that there is also the ruins of the Lone Wolf Lodge, a grand staircase to nowhere, and a train tunnel.
