Lake Wappapello

Lake Wappapello is mostly in Wayne County, but the southern end of it is in Butler County. On August 25, 2019, we stayed with friends at a motel that they own and rented a boat to ride. We had a great time! We took our two dogs and they brought their two dogs and there was a bit of tension between them, but all survived the boat ride together.

Lake Wappapello is a reservoir on the St. Francis River, formed by Wappapello Dam. These are photos of the dam from the water.

Our friend knew the lake well and explored it and found several cranes. I wished I had brought my distance lens, but was still able to enjoy photographing them with the lens I had. This is "crane #1."

This is "crane #2" and it is enjoyable looking at all the positions cranes can get into as they sit and fly.
