General John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site

I visited General John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site on April 29, 2023 with my friend Kristin. We arrived about 6 p.m. so everything was closed, but we enjoyed the late sunshine in the sky and how it illuminated everything against the blue as we walked the grounds. I discovered later that we only walked part of the grounds as there is additional grounds on the other side of the information building. The site is very near the Locust Creek Covered Bridge and Pershing State Park so be sure to visit them all. It is located at 1100 Pershing Dr #0141, Laclede, Linn County, Missouri.

There is a military memorial next to the home and we spent a while there honoring the veterans as we read the names. It is really well done.

This tells about the General John J. Pershing statute.

I like this photo!

This tells about the home. I was impressed that the home in front of me looked just like this old photo.

We loved observing the three lightening rods on the roof.

Such detail!

There was a flowering quince which was huge and beautiful, but the large lilac bush takes the win! I loved seeing it grace the military walls of honor and the flags.

This cellar (I am assuming) was very interesting the way the brick was built up and the mound of dirt to make a hill over it. This side has a window but the other side was the entryway.
