On September 14, 2024, we visited two wineries in Warren County, Missouri. I wanted to stop by a few Missouri Conservation Areas, but our time was running short. We were coming from a day visiting Hermann, Missouri, and drove down Highway 94 and that was a real treat with the big wide open views and then some hills and valleys
I had heard of Blumenhof Winery before, so had assumed it was a good place to go. The place was packed! We found one spot where we pulled in off the side of he road next to other vehicles and it put us right in the vineyard!
The music was great and the crowd felt safe, but the party atmosphere is just not our thing.
We did sample some wines and were glad that the tasting was free, but honestly, I was not impressed with the two I tasted and had no desire to taste any more. We ended up sharing a wine slushy and sitting down outside for a bit, but then the music ended on us, so we left. They were closing at 6 p.m.
We had seen a sign for Lake Creek Winery and saw they were opened until 8 p.m., so we headed that way and we were so glad we did! This place is MUCH more our vibe.
The views are often what we go to wineries for so that we can sit and relax while we sip on wine. Look at that view! They had this view above the barn and then another view from the back porch.
The music was nice as we approached.
Inside we were told to take a seat and that we would be served. How nice is that compared to fighting our way to be served at a bar.
We enjoyed a wine flight and pretzels. I found the wines to be good and did find one I liked and another one that was super unique and intriguing to savor. We would certainly come back to Lake Creek moreso than Blumenhoff, but it depends on the vibe you are looking for.
