Bilby Ranch Lake Conservation Area

We visited Bilby Ranch Lake Conservation Area in Nodaway County on December 20, 2024, and thought it was such a beautiful space with wide open views that I wondered what it looked like in a season of greens instead of Winter. The lake is down in a valley which accentuates the beauty. We first visited another area of the location with camping spots before visiting the main area. I very much wanted to get out and hike down some of the trails, but it was too cold. At another time of year, we would have really enjoyed it.

It looks to me like a prairie and I wonder how many flowers are in the fields.

The rolling hills and blue skies were beautiful.

This is the main road before turning into the main area of the space.

These photos do not do the wide expanses of views justice.

The road winds around just a little bit lending to great path photo ops.

This is the view as the road descends toward the lake.

There are pit toilets at the lake and a dock with the boating abilities.

It was SO cold that day that there were ice formations along the edges of the lake. I wondered what the view looked like when things green up in the Spring on the other side of the lake.
