Fredrock Glampground is near Fredericktown, Madison County, Missouri. Reservations can be made for one of their many fun and unique stays through their website or through Hipcamp. We stayed at a primitive campsite on May 30, 2025. With our new Lone Peak camper, we really just wanted somewhere to set it up and to get in the water and wallow. The river here is called the Twelve Mile Creek and it is crystal clear! It is our kind of river. We greatly enjoyed ourselves and would come here again. We did not see many people at all this weekend and we like the quiet. There is the Highway 61 nearby and you can hear the traffic all night long, but we were able to adapt. We were surprised that it took about an hour and a half to get to the camp because Fredericktown itself is only an hour from our house in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. However, we traveled through Fredericktown and got onto Highway 67 and traveled some more.
There are trails to explore that are not too long allowing for some nice strolling during the day. The trails lead to the river and the shut-ins.
The owners of Fredrock are blessed to have these shut-ins on their property and I am glad they are sharing it with others.
I sat several times and relaxed with my camera which was a real treat and these first photos are just a few of those photo sessions.
We stayed at campground T2 on this map. The river near the tent icon is not all that big, but we enjoyed it just the same. The dotted lines are the trails, so you can see there are several ways to walk down to the shutins from the tent site. There is more than one spot to get into the water as well, so finding a quiet spot away from others was do-able.
This is campsite T3 just the other side of the water from our tent.
This is another swimming area that is upstream from the shut-ins. We spent some time here. There are fun little things to find everywhere you walk.
This is campsite T3 just the other side of the water from our tent.
This is a scene from the trails. This spot was low and we walked through the water, but we were prepared with the right shoes.
Watch the video that shows the trails even better.
There were a few difficult spots, but not really difficult at all, to go through on the trail.
Below the shut-ins is a deeper area for swimming.
Tent site 3 is next to the swan.
This is the water that is between tent sites 2 and 3.
