Brasstown Falls

Brasstown Falls are a collection of waterfalls along one trail in Long Creek, South Carolina, on Brasstown Road. I remember this drive well! We were in a valley driving 2.6 miles down Brasstown Road. There was a recommended restaurant in the valley along the road and a lot of vehicles were there, but the rest of the valley felt empty. It was so strange to come up on a place with a lot of people in what felt like the middle of nowhere. The pavement ended and the driving continued 1.3 miles on a narrow dirt road. It was a bit intimidating. The road forked and we traveled .4 more miles to the parking area. We hiked .8 miles, but we did not do the last short bit to the end of the trail for the last view because folks on the trail told us it was difficult and not worth it.

Here is the first falls that we saw and it was well worth the trip for it alone!

This shows where it is located in South Carolina, close to the Georgia border.

You can see from the "you are here" that we turned left to see the first fall, and then came back to the intersection and went the other way to see the other falls.

The trail was an easy hike.

This the intersection where the upper falls are to the left, and then you come back to this intersection and go right to go to the lower falls.

Here are the upper falls. There were four young girls here sitting in chairs. They had driven about an hour to come and just sit at this fall and enjoy each other's company. It was rather sweet!

Here is another selfie as I promised to take more photos of myself in 2025. It had been a long day with many hikes already.

Another view of the upper falls.

Walking to the lower falls.

There were lots of well-built steps to help along the walk.

This is from the viewing platform to the second falls.

I am fairly certain these falls were much larger than it seemed from the viewing platform.

Looking back at the viewing platform.

The trail continues to be easy.

We spied the third waterfall from the trail.

We could see people from the water on the trail. They seemed to be having a lot of fun.

I wanted to go down and invade their space, but we were not in swimsuits. Being in the water there looked like so much fun!

Then below the third waterfall we could see the next waterfall spilling over the edge.

If we had continued down the trail, we would have seen the fourth waterfall (in the center in this photo) from the ground view, but decided not to do the last part.
