Cape Girardeau Pump House

Cape Girardeau Pump House in the Winter, January 6, 2018

Cape Girardeau Pump House in the Autumn, November 11, 2017

The "pump house" in Cape Girardeau was well known and often spoke of when I attended Southeast Missouri State University in the 1980's. The pump house was where college folk went to make out! I am guilty of doing that very same thing. The pump house is located below Cape Rock. There is a small parking area next to the train tracks. It is dangerous to cross the tracks, but that does not ever stop us from doing so as we nowadays enjoy visiting just to watch the traffic on the river, throw in sticks, wander around, or observe nature in Winter settings of white. I am not sure what the pump house is used for, if it is used at all. I do not even know if it pumps into the Mississippi River or out of the Mississippi River.

This was a fabulously fun photo shoot!

These photos are actually more down by Juden Creek, but they were with this photo shoot.

There it is! The pump house on the other side of the railroad tracks as seen from the parking lot.

I remember taking this photo! I thought it looked so funny with everything being Autumn colors and then this pluff of green hanging down over my car.

This is the road as you come down from Cape Rock at the entrance of the parking lot.

These photos are so bad they are almost not worth sharing, other than they document a history of our visit.
