Bucksaw Campground at Harry S Truman Lake

Bucksaw Campground at Harry S. Truman Lake is managed by the Corp of Engineers. The campsite is in Henry County, Missouri. We had driven and hit many counties in Missouri and seen many things during our day, and arrived at the campsite at the end of light just in time to put up our tent. I had no idea when we were driving all over western Missouri where we would spend the night. I had a different idea, but instead went with hubby's randomness. It is good to be flexible! The COE campsites never disappoint. We ended up at the Bucksaw Campground at Harry S. Truman Lake.

Have I said enough how much we love our Lone Peak camper? We are set up so quickly and packed up just as quick that we can go impromptu gypsy style traveling as we have always enjoyed doing. We woke up here on our 39th anniversary and had brought a few treats to celebrate for breakfast. The sunset and sunrise were great too from the tent.

In the morning we enjoyed the sunrise. There were not many campers around and we sure appreciated the quiet.

We do love our camper and watching the sunsets and sunrises from it. You could only barely see the lake from the campground, but the prairie grass was a lovely view too. I liked that no one was behind our camper as that keeps it more private for us, especially when using the toilet.

I took a screen shot of where we were camping while at the campsite. The campsites A, B, and C are in a row together and we did drive through them all the next morning. The one where the beach is located was most popular as people were walking down to the beach from their campers. We were the furtherest from all that activity and we were good with that.

This campsite is on the Harry S. Truman Reservoir and the location on my map screenshot here shows how big the lake is and how there are so many camping opportunities around it.

We wanted to check out Harry s. Truman State Park next and were surprised how far away it was to drive to.

This map actually helped us navigate around the roads better and to get a better grasp on where we were. The tan is the state park and we were over to the left at Bucksaw, but also visited the dam and museum.

This map shows the three loops of the Bucksaw campground and where the swimming beach is located.

We woke up here on our 39th anniversary and had brought a few things to celebrate, so we set out the tablecloth and began making tea and coffee with the jetboil.

I had brought flowers from my yard and carried them all over Missouri! They had set between the seats in the truck. I have been writing what I call Little Diddy's for months now, and I sat down to write some in the quiet this morning. I remember we were talking about someone going by on a bike and our conversation turned into a writing.

We do love our camper!

Toasting to our anniversary. I do not remember what we toasted!

We had brought a bottle of mimosa to celebrate, along with some orange almond chocolate, because we can do whatever we want for breakfast!

We did have fun with it!

In the middle of our loop was this view and it was the best view of the lake in this loop, but it still was not much.

We drove down to the marina to check it out. I was not impressed by the lake view, honestly, but I suppose it was a cloudy day and that may have mattered.

We were driving on the road out and spied a view views we enjoyed.
