Morris State Park

Morris State Park, February 4, 2022

We visited Morris State Park on February 4, 2023, because we needed to find some place to go in Dunklin County. We had hoped to hike some of the trail, but it was too covered in ice for us. There is not much at this park. The conservation purpose of this park is to educate about Crowley's Ridge. As can be seen in the video, we could observe Crowley's Ridge better from the drive around to the other side and up Highway 25 than we could from the park. Crowley's Ridge goes on and on for many miles.

Tons of Geese near Bernie, Missouri

As we were traveling home going north, I think just over the Stoddard County border near Bernie, we spotted a field of hundreds of geese! What a delight! This was the best part of our entire trip! I saw these geese as a sign that Spring is near.

This is the flat land going north. You can see Crowley's Ridge in the distance.

I did not take too many photos of the geese and forgot to grab my bit camera.

This is where we were when we saw the field of geese. My best guess is that it is just over the Stoddard County boundary line near Bernie, Missouri.

I did take these two with my big camera, but of course when I grabbed it, the birds would not fly anymore. This is the area that was attracting them with the water. It made me wonder if the nearby farmer had attracted them by putting out feed.
