Malcolm W. Martin Memorial Park, East St. Louis

We visited Malcolm W. Martin Memorial Park, East St. Louis, Illinois, on April 21, 2019. I am always scared to go to East St. Louis because of the crime and the warnings. I have always been told that if you inadvertently cross the bridge, to go further down the highway to turn around rather than East St. Louis. I do have some of my ancestors who lived in East St. Louis, but I believe it was during a period of time when the city was safer and full of life. The thing to do now in East St. Louis is to get the full view of the St. Louis Arch from across the river. I'd love to see it at night, but that is too dangerous of a time for me, so we visited during the day. My Great-Grandfather also worked at the Cahokia Power Plant which is not far from East St. Louis.

There is a camera on location and you can go back later to the time you were there and grab screen shots of yourself or you can ask your family to go look and wave at them in current time. I suppose this camera is mostly there to help with crime.
