Fort D, Cape Girardeau
The above Fort D, Cape Girardeau, slideshow is of photos taken on July 4, 2010, and May 27, 2018. This historic fort was constructed in 1861 by Union troops under John Wesley Powell and is the only remaining Civil War forts of the four that protected Cape Girardeau from Confederate attack.
