Sugarloaf Vineyard (now closed)

We visited Sugarloaf Vineyard on June 13, 2015. We were on a "gypsy nester style" vacation trip where we had planned a general direction to go and landed wherever we landed. I must say, for us, this is one of the more memorable impromptu adventures that we have been on. What a great decision to turn down a road when we saw a sign for a winery. It was located at 66 Feline Lane, Camdenton, Camden County, Missouri. It seems the owners retired and the place closed in 2018, but there may still be some vacation rentals on the property.

This was port wine over ice cream. He loved it.

The seating area outside the hut was great.

Our story is that while we were at the hut, a little shack, being served our wine tasting and chatting, I began to say something to the effect that I loved nature, but she heard it that I was a "naturalist." She said, "Oh, I am a naturalist too! We have a large group that meets here every week on a [a certain day]. I welcome you to visit where we meet." I won't ever forget the grin and "that look" on her face that told us all we needed to know. It became apparent to us that by naturalist she did not mean those who enjoyed nature, but rather those who enjoyed hanging out in their "birthday suit." In other words, to her, a naturalist was a nudist, or the practice of going nude in places that allow mixed-gender groups in the belief that such practice benefits health. We were given directions to the group area for us to enjoy.

The group area was found at a unique spiral road down the hill to a place next to the lake.

It was a beautiful area and we had it all to ourselves to enjoy our bottle of wine.

I did find it difficult, however, to allow myself to sit in any of these really clean chairs while thinking that various bare behinds had been sitting in them. We did walk around a lot.

We eventually took a dip in the lake and that was actually very nice. There was a house across the lake, so if someone were in the house, they had a clear view of the area where we were and that made me wonder what they thought of the views on group nights.

We eventually did sit in these two chairs for a while.

The view from those chairs was fantabulous.
