Ceaser's Head State Park in South Carolina is near the city of Cleveland. We visited on June 30, 2025. There is a waterfall and other hikes at this park, but we did not explore it all.
The walk to the overlook is short and on a boardwalk.
This is where the park is located in the north near the North Carolina Border.
This is the first view you see. The overlook in the photo is the prime spot to view. There were people ahead of us, so we paused for a bit.
This is the sign that shows what you can see out in the distance. We had spent the night at Table Rock State Park, so we were mostly interesting in it being familiar with it.
You can see the people at the main overlook and why we were pausing.
I believe the cloud is over Table Rock that overlooks the state park. There is a trail that leads there.
This is the main overlook area, just on top of some natural rock with a protective fence.
The view is too fast to capture in a photo.
It sure is an amazing place!
We were not there by ourselves long. I made a commitment in 2025 to try to get in front of the camera more, so someone took a photo of us for me.
We did not stay long, planning to come back with hopefully less people and children, and started down the trail. This is the photo from along the trail.
Then there were steps going down.
And the steps turned and went down further into what they call "the devils kitchen." In Missouri we call these tight spots, "fat man's squeeze." The name "devils kitchen" came about from a myth of Scots-Irish settlers in the area who believed the devil made a hot brew there, and spilled a drop that cracked the rock open to form the narrow passage.
The trail continues along the edge and meanders around back to the parking lot. It is not too far.
There are some great views along the trail.
We went back around the the overlook as the whole thing just makes a loop with the parking lot connecting the two trial points. This is the sign shared above.
Another shot from the main overlook our second time around. It is a wonderful place.
