Ruby Falls is located on Lookout Mountain, which we learned is partially in Tennessee and partially in Georgia because as we were driving around, we kept hopping in and out of the states. We really enjoyed our time on Lookout Mountain and could have stayed to see so much more than we did. We certainly recommend coming to Lookout Mountain. We visited on July 3, 2025.

This tour was a little expensive and not normally our style of tours, especially of caves, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Our guide was great and the content shared made us laugh as it was one pun or joke after another.

We did have to wait often for other groups to pass which was a little annoying because the walk could have been done so much quicker if we were not waiting all the time. Other than that, there were no complaints. It is more commercialized than we prefer, but it was not as bad as some other caves we have been too.

All along the walk in and out were fun a naming of rock formations that resembled everything from food, to animals, to the unimaginable, just to bring a smile to your face. Sometimes I had trouble following the imagination of the person who named each spot because I just could not see it, but other times it jumped right out at me with a ah-ha notion in my head!

As you scroll through this page you can read the signs and attempt to find the formation it references on your own, so I will not be writing about each photo.

When we finally entered the room for the waterfall, we stood in darkness and could hear the water, but not see it. The place is set up with a light display timed with music and one must wait for it to begin before the lights come up and the waterfall is dramatically revealed. It is a little too much for me, but then again with an attitude adjustment, I did enjoy it and appreciated the creativity and uniqueness of the cave and waterfall.

The shear height of the waterfall though was amazing! I could only imagine being the first person to explore to find it.

We were encouraged to go to the roof and walk across to the lookout, which is the tower you see in this photo. We were told many miss this part that is included with the ticket price because they walk out without knowing to explore.

It was a fun view of the Tennessee River below and the parking lot.

Here I am trying to do more photos of myself as a goal in 2025.

Looking behind the tower is where the zip line entrance, or ending, is located.
