Huntington Beach State Park

We stayed at Huntington Beach State Park, South Carolina, the evening of June 30, 2025 into July 1, 2025. This was our opportunity for ocean time on our week long trip. We were by the ocean, but could not see it from our campsite. It was a short walk to the ocean, however, and we visited three times in less than 24 hours. We went after we set up camp for a sunset view, and in the morning for a sunrise walk along the shore, and then again later in the morning to get in the water for a while. This made for a lot of photos! I kept a lot here, but I have a lot more. This State Park was more expensive than other camping, but I am sure it is probably a lot less than hotels along the ocean front.

EVENING SUNSET

Here we are setting up our camper tent. The cut through is just down the road to the right a short bit, and the ocean is somewhere on the other side of those trees.

We had folks close on either side of us, but they were good neighbors and we had no bad instances at the park, except the children constantly cutting through and riding their bikes right through our campsite to go across the field to the shower house. There was no reason for them to do that as they could have walked the road. I wanted to say something to them when they kept coming through, but I decided to keep quiet. I do not know why this is such a problem everywhere all over the country now. There is no respect for privacy and not walking through other people's campsites anymore.

This is the trail to the beach. We read the sign in the video above about safety with alligators. Now that is not something we have ever had to deal with. We have bear safety in Missouri, but not alligators!

We crossed a bridge and I looked to see if I could see alligators. The marsh was beautiful

After the bridge we came to this fabric-like walkway which I had never seen before and I rather liked it. It works so well with the sand. Some people probably think I am funny for appreciating it as it is common to them.

We are almost there! I love the prairie grass blowing in the wind with a peak of the ocean.

We have arrived! We see a boat.

We loved the sand castles that others had built during the day.

We discover the sun is setting behind us, which of course we should have known! There were not too many colors reflecting to the east.

We had our photos taken on the beach as I am trying to be in front of the camera more.

There is the sun going down!

We always have to do "famous feet shots."

The sun is gone now, but there is a small bit of sunset colors. One side is blue and the other is orange. Can you see the line?

We see that same line looking across the ocean now.

MORNING SUNSET WALK

I grabbed our location on a map. It looks like we are in the ocean!

We wore regular clothes for our morning beach walk. We were there before we started seeing the sunlight.

I love watching the sky change.

These are all with my cell phone, and could have been more fabulous with my camera, but I did not take it to the beach. I love the sandcastle and the perspective of the person walking in this photo.

Now we have rays!

Now the rays are gone. I like the sand castle and person again!

I was walking along the beach and looked back to see what it looked like.

The tide seemed to be coming in and I liked when it retreated and left glossy patches of wet sand for the sun to reflect in.

Sea foam now! It is fun to experience.

No sun.

Peak! There it is! The first sight of it.

It comes up quickly now it seems.

The sky changes by the moment.

There it is! The sun is all the way up now. I like the stranger walking in this photo for perspective.

Sweet!

The more it rises, the less round it is.

This is me! I asked hubby to take a photo of me and told him to go away a distance to do it.

This is returning to camp.

There is another alligator educational sign.

As we looked down off the bridge, we saw our first and only alligator! I was excited to see it swimming from beneath us. Do you see it at the bottom of the photo?

I have no idea how big it actually is.

I enjoy the trail as well.

THIRD TIME TO THE BEACH, TO SWIM THIS TIME.

I am trying to be good and get in front of the camera more. We took turns staying with our stuff and going to get in the water. I went first.

He went second.

He kept wanting to lie down on his stomach facing the incoming waves so they would smack him in the face, but he kept chickening out. I had to dare him and do it with him later to get him to do what he was wanting to do.

We loved watching this person building a sand castle with the shovel.

Our time was ended when an unexpected storm came up and then it was time to leave.
