As we are trying to visit something in every county in Missouri, it was amazing how many times we have driven right through Webster County on Highway 60 and never stopped to visit anything. It is often hard to find things in rural counties. On August 8, 2025, we made it our first stop at Diggins, Missouri. I have heard of the name Diggins, Missouri many times, mostly in genealogy forums I believe, but I have no idea why.
Finley Falls is on Little Finley Creek. It is behind a gated area, but the gate was open. It is on private property, so we stayed only a short while. I had read that the owners do not mind if people visit, but they mind if people are partying and trashing the area, making noise, and other rude behaviors. We wanted to respect the people so only stayed a short bit to enjoy the small falls.
Everywhere we drove there were houses with laundry hanging out on lines and some of them appears to be Amish or Mennonite bonnets and aprons. I felt as if we were in their community.
The falls go right over the roadway.
There was a way to walk down to the lower level, but we decided not to do so in order to keep our visit short.
The GPS took us to a spot in the road which seemed to be right, but it was not. You take NN to Finley Falls Road, and then turn right onto Burnett Road.
The town of Diggins has a population of 299 people!
We drove through Webster County northward to get to our next location and the drive was beautiful. There were some conservation areas we could have visited, but we had to pick and choose for the time we had, so Finley Falls was our thing to see in Webster County.
