Cape Catfish July 30 2022 at Capaha Park, Cape Girardeau, Missouri - a winning game! This is also at the new ballfield.
This is a photowalk of Capaha Park Pond and the walking trail around the pond with all of the water fowl on March 7, 2021.
On June 5, 2018, I took a photowalk around the park for many hours during the daylight, and then during blue hour, and then after dark, so the photos are a wide range from the Rose Garden to the baseball field to the lights of the hospital over the pond. On November 14, 2018, I took photos of Capaha Pond during the snow.
The Autumn colors in this photowalk are totally amazing! Wowser!
I used to love to do what I called "photowalks" where I would pick a location and merely walk around and take photos of whatever composure inspired me. The local Capaha Park was an easy place to visit to do a photowalk. I put into this slideshow photos of two separate photowalks. One is during the day focusing on the water fowl and geese and the other focuses on the nightime lights and the illuminated water. I can tell from my photos that I was playing with shutterspeed a lot. These photos are not edited.
These are beautiful photos made into a slideshow of Capaha Park and the water fowl on January 28, 2009. I rather like them!
We often went sledding at Capaha Park for a snow day and in 2005 I had a camera that took video, so we were able to preserve some footage. By 2009, our teenage sons refused to go with us, so we went on our own! I do love adventures and do not need children to go on them. The idea is that we will never grow up! These 2005 and 2009 video snippets really crack me up! I was laughing out loud for sure.
These are some of the same photos as in the above slideshow, but since it is a new ballfield, I wanted to share a few photos.
2021's photo shoot would be the one about water fowl. I would love to be able to identify them all!
There were not enough photos from this photo shoot to do a video, so there are only photos.
I love these panoramic views of Capaha Pond in the snow.
I converted the same photo to black and white.
I was glad to see I had some photos of the Rose Garden. Cape Girardeau is known as the "City of the Roses" and without the Rose Garden, there are not many roses that stand out to me. Sometime after this photo the Rose Garden was closed and the roses disappeared and nothing was ever rebuilt or maintained. I missed it.
These are also older photos of the Capaha Field where baseball is played. It looks much different now.
Playing around in the Blue Hour.
Snow!
Capaha Pool where our children grew up learning to swim is gone and now there is a new part of the park. I am not sure when it was built.
These photos are in the slideshow video above, but I wanted to drop a view still images here too.
Most of these photos are in the slideshow video above, but I wanted to drop a view still images here too. This one with his head upside down makes me laugh.

Here are just a few photos of the sledding. Notice how many tracks. That is because we were not the only ones to use this space to sled.
Do I spy a plastic lid to a storage container? Where there is a will, there is a way!
