I have a fascination for feet. Yep, I admit it. I stare at them. I cannot help myself. It is like a car accident in front of me whereby the eyes cannot stop watching. If I see feet, I have an inclination to study them. God makes feet all the same with five toes, toenails, arch, heel, and instep. Yet every foot I have ever seen is slightly different. Isn't God amazing?!  I intensely analyze the differences hoping not to be caught with my eyes fixated. I surely do not want people seeing me stare! I might give them an inferiority complex! I certainly do not want to be the cause of that. Neither do I want to be caught in the act of staring and be determined as weird.

No matter what your feet look like, whether a longer or a shorter second toe, a high arch or no arch, long and skinny or short and wide, if you are proclaiming good tidings of great joy (Luke 2:10), God says you have beautiful feet!

Look at your beautiful feet! “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” The voice of your watchmen—they lift up their voice; together they sing for joy; for eye to eye they see the return of the Lord to Zion” Isaiah 52: 7, 8.

I love to walk barefoot. At home I rarely put on shoes, no matter the temperature, and sometimes walk outside in the cold barefoot if for a short trip. Cleaning them before getting into bed can be a task. I become a contortionist as I put my foot over the bathroom sink. Okay, don’t laugh at me. Okay, you can laugh.

In Bible times many traveled in sandals and their feet would become offensively covered by the dusty road. However, in God’s eyes he does not see the dirt, but only the movement of the feet to voice and sing these good tidings of great joy and the advent, the coming, of our Lord. Even with no physical washing, the feet become beautiful to God who looks past all dirt and washes away all sin.

A mountain is hard to climb, unlike a straight flat road. Any walk of testimony is not guaranteed to be easy. There may be persecution, chiding, and obstacles. However, just when you think the walk is too steep, press on, for there is no mountain that cannot be climbed without the help of our Lord Jesus Christ. Glad tidings of comfort and joy!
